Well we celebrated 4 years in Paphos on the 4th January. So it set me thinking what I love about living here and what I miss from the UK and thought I would share it with you.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT PAPHOS
Experiencing the different seasons which tend to be more predictable here. The climate is great but I do miss the rain (yes you always want what you haven’t got!) during the summer months when it can be baking hot and very humid.
Not having to ever de-ice my car
Very little traffic jams (except in the town in rush hour) and two lane peaceful motorways with lovely scenery
Time during the winter months to do simple things like walk along the beach or read a book
Gardening and seeing my plants grow ten times faster
Not having to clean my car inside and out and have all done for me for just 10.00 euros
Not having to queue and put petrol in my car or check tyre pressures – all done for me without me even having to leave my car
No preservatives in food and home cooked meals at the local village taverna
Sitting outside at a seaside/roadside cafe sipping a Frappe (iced coffee)
Seeing a doctor or dentist the same day I need to
Coming home and finding a bag of oranges or bananas on my door step and not knowing who they are from
Hearing the sound of children playing in the streets having fun
Most of all the kindness and hospitality of the Cypriot people
WHAT DO I MISS ABOUT THE UK?
My family and long term friends
Boots, Superdrug, TK Max and HMV
Choice of clothes at low prices
Cheap electrical goods for the home
Having a dust free car
Cheap fast broadband and cheap electricity
