What have I been up to this month?
The wedding season is now underway and it’s great to meet our couples after all the e-mails and phone calls leading up to their special day.
Jim had a great time taking their photos and I went along with him to capture some extra shots.
I have also being trying out some more cosmetics, ready for the summer season. But I have to say I was disappointed.
I love gel/cream eye liners and tend to use MAC, Clinique and Bobbi Brown. BUT I am always tempted to try anything new.
I bought from www.strawberrynet.com a GLO Minerals gel eyeliner in a plum shade and SMASHBOX in deep purple. The Glo Minerals was ok, but it did start to wear off after a couple of hours – so it won’t be any use in the summer months. The one by SMASHBOX was just too dry and not very workable, so I will use it as an eyeshadow.
Never mind I still enjoy trying.
Another big excitement this month…. It’s living on an island for four years and missing something from the UK…
We finally have got – wait for it… ‘bags of ready washed salad leaves’… what I hear you say – is that all??? Honestly I know it sounds crazy, but many of us expats here have really missed this. Fresh salad here is fabulous and very cheap, but it’s just so big! For example Rocket lettuce has
really large leaves and because it is so fresh and organic it only last a day... so if I want a few different types of lettuce I simply can’t get any food in my fridge! So to see these bags in Dagenham’s this week was great. They are selling very fast!
A new shop has opened here this month called ‘The Euro Shop’. Again sounds nothing to someone living in the UK with so much choice, but for here it’s a big thing. Sells everything for either 1 or 2 euros including wait for it.... Boots No 7 Make-up and Revlon Make-up. Make-up can be so expensive over here compared to the UK and most of the British tend to stock up on everything when they go back home to the UK. So I went over and bought loads of goodies – fabulous!
